Are there any health risks or concerns for a child whos Mother was gestational diabetic?

I had gestational diabetes while pregnant with my son (now 3) Just wondering if gestational diabetes is linked to any illnesses in children? Are there any health risks or concerns for a child whos Mother was gestational diabetic? There are only health risks and concerns if your blood sugars weren't controlled during your pregnancy. If your child came out healthy at a good weight then your child should be okay.

If your sugars weren't controlled and your child had problems right after birth, they will be at increased risk for type 2 diabetes.

My answer didn't make sense? I was talking about a toddler or older ... if your blood sugars were controlled durning pregnancy then your child should be in the clear. Any risk of type 2 diabetes your child has is only from heredity.

I had GD while pregnant, and my daughter came out perfectly healthy. She is now 2 1/2 and has type 1 diabetes, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the GD.Are there any health risks or concerns for a child whos Mother was gestational diabetic?Infants of mothers with gestational diabetes are vulnerable to several chemical imbalances, such as low serum calcium and low serum magnesium levels, but in general, there are two major problems of gestational diabetes: macrosomia and hypoglycemia (high birth weight %26amp; low blood sugar right after delivery)Are there any health risks or concerns for a child whos Mother was gestational diabetic?hi, the more important risk in the son麓s of mothers with any kind of diabetes is express in the future diabetes. If your child born whit high weigh he can be in danger to develop Diabetes. By the age of the child is difficult to identify. but when he grow up you must to take care of the symptoms and the diet.
