Looking to get medicaid. Not sure yet if I qualify for CHIP, but I'm trying to find a private insurance company that will accept a child-only plan. My insurance is through my parents, and he can't go on that without them claiming my child as their dependent.
We've Looked at BlueCross BlueShield, but we are trying to find something cheaper.
Thanks ahead of time for your help! Are there any Health insurance companies that offer child only plans? All insurance companies in most states have quit offering child only policies as a direct result of the Healthcare Deform Act. There are a couple of short term policies available to children age 2 through 18 but they are only good for the duration of the policy (%26lt;1 yr.).
You'll need to get off your parents plan and get your own with your kid.
BTW - the CHIP plans are still Medicaid, just a different type. Are there any Health insurance companies that offer child only plans? Thanks to the Health Reform Act, you can no longer buy "child only" health insurance - you have to include AT LEAST one of the parents.
Even claiming a grandchild as a tax dependent won't help - they'd actually have to adopt the baby, and become baby's legal parents - you'd have to give up all rights to your child.
If you're comparing costs, keep in mind, Medicaid and CHIP are artificially LOW. Even if you COULD buy child only policies, it can't compete with welfare - which is what Medicaid and CHIP are. Taxpayers pick up 90% to 100% of the tab. As an example, I had a "child only" policy a decade ago, through BCBS, with no deductible it was $189 per month. And costs have only gone up since then.
So, CHIP is a form of Medicaid. And you'll NEVER find a private health insurance that "costs" the same to you as welfare programs. Are there any Health insurance companies that offer child only plans? There are no health insurance companies that offer any plans everywhere.
Each plan is offered in only some places.
There are many places where no health insurance companies offer child only plans. I do not know if you are in one of those places. If you are in one of those places, there you need to leave your parents' plan and get a new plan for both your child and yourself. If you live in a different place, then you might be able to get a child only plan. Are there any Health insurance companies that offer child only plans?
You can buy child only plans only is some states...not all. Call a health insurance broker to get some help.
