I was born in 1958. The biggest change that I have noticed is the fact that people no longer take responsibility for their own actions. A close second is that people just don't care any more about other people. It's a shame, really. Life was so much more innocent and fun. What We ddn't have: fax machines, microwaves, cellphones, cordless phones, VCRs, Gameboys, personal computers, iPods, Walkmans



What We didn't have: Paris Hilton, celebrities being praised for having children out of wedlock, people shacking up without marriage, no-fault divorce.



What we did have: dinner together every night, staying together "for the sake of the children" was actually a GOOD thing to do, role models who didn't do drugs.How has the world changed since you were a child? (technology, values, environment, health?When I was 10 (1974):



-We only had 3 TV channels

-We had no remote controls

-the phone had a circular dial with finger holes

-we got a vaccination with multiple punctures from a needle (check out any person %26gt; 41; their left arm will have a circular scar just below the shoulder)

-We had no microwave

-We had vinyl records or 8-track cassettes

-The appliances were colored an awful green or yellow

-Women didn't groom below (I can't tell you how many of my friends' mothers would have a thatch of hair protruding from their bathing suits)

-At night, you had a choice between Lawrence Welk, Hee Haw or Tony Orlando %26amp; Dawn

-Kids haircuts looked exactly like the kids of today (check out Bad News Bears...see)

-You could have milk delivered to your door

-We all got baseball cards with our chewing gum (if we had saved them all, we would be rich)

-We all got up at 5AM on the weekends to watch Bugs Bunny; then we would fight for the prize at the bottom of the cereal box

-We were lucky enough to watch Howard Cosell

-Mom was a secretary; she would type a letter and let her boss read it. If there were any changes to be made, she would have to type the whole thing again

-No fax machines or computers

-We collected coins; dimes, quarters, halves and silver dollars were made of 90% silver before 1965. In the mid-70's, the Hunt brothers tried to corner the silver market and the dates of our coins no longer mattered - the silver alone made the coins more valuable - we cashed in!

-Kids got spanked at school and behaved MUCH better because of it

-Everyone looked forward to the Wizard of Oz which showed once per year

-The stuff inside of Stretch Armstrong looked like strawberry jelly

-Families played Monopoly, Sorry or Pacheesi together

yes comps aren't bagie boxes and we learn basic algebra in 4th grade...How has the world changed since you were a child? (technology, values, environment, health?ABSOLUTELY!!! and i'm not all that old.

ppl are less polite, can't spell (oops, guilty) and the technology is at a crazy level. people are less honest about some things, and too open about others, crime seems to be climbing, and fast food is everywhere!!
