Is naptime crucial to my child's health and wellbeing?

My 1 year old often goes without a nap. I don't see a point in letting her cry for 15 minutes just so that she can sleep for 20 or 30 minutes. Is letting her go without a nap going to harm her in any way? When she does nap, she goes down without a problem on her own for 1 or 2 hours. She has such a pleasant disposition, she is never cranky. When she's tired she sleeps, and when she isn't, she doesn't.Is naptime crucial to my child's health and wellbeing?I don't think you should worry.

As long as she's as happy as you say she is, she's probably not missing out on anything by not napping. Just like you said, crying for 15 minutes and sleeping for 20 doesn't have much benefit; those 1-2 hour naps are her rest-and-recharge, important naps that she takes when she needs them.

There's a ton of research on napping, but nothing that really proves they're "necessary." They can make life more convenient if you need her to stay awake later in the evening for dinner, family time or whatever, but don't feel guilty!

Her body would tell her She may be getting enough sleep at night. Is naptime crucial to my child's health and wellbeing?
As long as she sleeps when she needs it, then it's not going to effect her, if you were keeping her up when she was clearly tired then it might have a negative effect on her but since you aren't then there is no reason to make her nap if she doesn't need too.
