Is it true that diapering your child is not good for his health?

Almost all family members belonging to the previous generation suggest using cloth. Why? Are diapers so bad? Diaper, they recommend, is good only when you go out with baby.

( Which means, I can see myself cooped up amid 4 walls for a long long time after I deliver.)

Does anyone out there feel the same? Or any bad experiences with diapers? Is it true that diapering your child is not good for his health?Diapers are not bad for baby's health, in general.

You will decide according to your baby's needs and yours. You may even decide to use both ;-)

On baby's point of view:

Skin type. some babies get rashes from paper diapers and improve with passing to cloth. Some other babies get rashes from the wetness that sticks to their skin when using cloth and improve with passing to paper diapers.

Sleep pattern. If your baby sleeps through the night unless the cloth diaper soaks him and the bed, you may give the paper diaper a chance.

Shape of legs. If they are very slim, chances are that something spills from the cloth diapers until some weight is put on, so you may prefer the paper stuff.

On your point of view:

Spending less money all together at the beginning versus a higher total expenses split into many tiny boxes of diapers.

Going to and from the supermarket with huge boxes of diapers, and then to and from the trash with huge boxes of full diapers versus going to and from your own laundry room.

How much time (and doing what) you spend out of your home with baby in a day, considering that you will have to keep your dirty cloth diapers with you after changes.

Your thought on environment. Every paper diaper needs some 100 years to disappear from the environment. So basically every new baby means a new mountain of trash on the Earth.

What I would do right now if I were you: have family members give me some cloth diapers as a gift for the newborn. So at least you save some money. Then you buy paper diapers and try both. Give everything a try and then decide. (cloth diapers are easy to sell on ebay, and some models make excellent swiming-pool diapers, so if you manage to get them for free they won't go lost anyway). Is it true that diapering your child is not good for his health?Oh, i had my daughters over 25 years ago, and used cloth nappies most of the time, because, i suppose it was cheaper , and we were on a budget.

If I was having a baby now, and could afford it, I would use disposables, so much easier!

I used to be rinsing nappies, soaking in a bucket , washing , drying etc etc.

Don't let anyone make you feel bad if you use disposables! Is it true that diapering your child is not good for his health?Hi,

I think that used to be the case, but not any more.

Disposable diapers are of such high quality these days, and can often be much more comfortable for your baby.

Cloth diapers retain their liquid, so means you have to change your baby's nappy much more frequently. Which is fine when you are home, but can sometimes be a pain when you are out and about.

theyre fine ive used both and allthough disposables may be more expensive and not as good for the environment there fine for your baby and soooooooooo much easier. dont let anyone make decisions for you or feel pressurised into using them if you dont want to.
