they verify student status once a year, around the birthday of the dependent.
the two questions i would ask your insurance company would be: what is the age bracket for students and when do they verify. depending on their answers, you might be able to verify him as a student and ride it out another year without them verifying again. also, depending on the type of school they are attending, the units necessary to qualify vary (could be lower) so, perhaps, your student would be up for going to one or two classes as opposed to a full load?
